I bought two $50 gift cards for Christmas gifts. When I gave the first one away, the individual I gave it to gave it back to me telling me it did not work. I called the company on December 26, 2017 and was asked to send a copy of the front of the card and the receipt. It took about an hour to get through that call. I was then called by Vanilla Mastercard on December 27, 2017 and asked to send a copy of my driver's license. In my opinion this is an unusual request since I was not asked to do the same when I bought the card. That said, I took a picture of my driver's license and emailed that in. I then called the company on December 28, 2017 and was told the card was activated. WRONG! So here I sit on January 2, 2018 after having spent another hour on the phone with Vanilla Mastercard I have now been told that they activated a different card. In other words someone I don't even know has had my $50 added to their card balance. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO SOMEONE. I now have to go buy another gift card for my nephew. Thanks Vanilla Mastercard for ruining a kid's Christmas.

I got the $100 vanilla gift card as a graduation present asking with two $50 ones. I tried using the $100 one at store and it was declined. It made no sense cause I had just taken it out of the package and the expiry date wasn’t until 2021. It was so embarrassing having to stand there and ask the person to keep trying cause I didn’t have extra money on me. So I call them and they tell me to email them a picture of the front and the back, which I did. Then they email me back asking me for a receipt. Mind you, I had at least 60 people at my graduation party and there was no way for me to know which one of those peopl gave the $100.00 gift card. Their response: “There is nothing we can do for you.” It was so frustrating speaking to them online cause no matter how many times I explained the situation they wouldn’t consider the issue from my perspective. So now there is a good-hearted person who lost $100.00 and I can’t even use it. It’s a scam.

Vanilla master turns loving gifts into sick jokes!!!

I received a $100.00 vanilla master card from a secret santa in the mail. When I went to use it to buy gifts for my kids it was declined. I called the company, then e-mailed them requested info including my ID, packaging, and card. They said I would be contacted within 3 days today is 12/30/17 6 days later I had not heard from them I called them back they tried to tell me that they emailed me the following day saying that they need a copy of the receipt to proceed further they were already well aware I did not have the receipt being this is a gift and I don't even know who it came from. They can see that the card was purchased and then deactivated five minutes later they refuse to do anything about this issue. And continue to say there's nothing that they can do without the receipt end of story though they know they're selling gift cards this is the biggest fraud I've ever experienced this company is a scam. I spoke with a representative and a supervisor and the company refuses to do anything about this. That's a huge profit I wonder how many cards they deactivate after purchase!?! I let them know I would be talking to the Better Business Bureau and the media and I told him I would be recording him and he refused to speak further.

Complicated question

I was contacting the company to see if there was a way to stop usage, I purchased the card and mailed to a friend in North Carolina I have reason to believe the card will be used in a possible scamming act and would like to know how to stop or return the card

Not able to register

Spent $503.95 at Walmart on a My Vanilla Mastercard for my husband. He tries to register and activate it online and it doesn't work.

Then he tries to do it through the phone with a representative. They tell him they can't identify him. We have lived at the same address for over 14 years. He has an active passport, works for the government, and they claim the information they have doesn't match.

It is now a useless card. They claim they are going to issue a refund. I wonder how long that is going to take. I would suggest not even bothering with these cards.

Hopefully the only loss will be the $3.95.

What a JOKE of a prepaid card. Just sign up for a travel card through your bank.

Informative

i used this service to call canada from France and tbh it workds great i do to add that the reason of my call directly related to a purchase i did not ask for, hopefully i will find myself with a resolution before the 90 day limit i was told. this website is great in offering this type of service for people to voice what too often goes unheard. however going on for one hundred words in this box is a little bit pointless since i have said what i had to say in the first three lines now i needd to write eight more words so that I can post yay

WASTE OF MONEY NEVER BUY VANILLA MASTERCARD

Received $100 gift card from my company and I used in store but it was decline called the customer service and said it was not activated properly and said they need a copy of receipt. Contacted our company secretary and she able to get the receipt and sent to vanilla email. Called again the customer service and tell me because there is 16 cards purchase on the receipt they want the last 4 digits of all those 16 card before activating my gift card. What the heck.. you are very frustrating vanilla MasterCard. No wonder why you have many bad reviews. Close your company. Stop stealing money from consumers.

Bought a $200 Vanilla MasterCard to pay my cable bill online, When I tried to activate the card, I was asked to phone Vanilla, I did. Vanilla told me the card had not been activated at the "point of sale".

I went back to Metro explained what happened they said a manager isn't in come back to-morrow, I went back the next day, spoke with the manager and was told too bad the card is non refundable and not their problem it had to do with a third party company called "Blackhawk"....screwed by all three of them..... I m old and live on a fixed income now what do I DO?

If your are truly old and on a fixed income you must have a financial institution to receive and convert deposits.

Therefore it does not make sense that you would blunder into the world of prepaid card anything.

You should pay your cable company directly.

What have you been doing since the dawn of cable back in the 60's ?

Complete Scam

I got a card as a gift and wanted to check the balance. The web address on the back of the card is broken and the phone number leads you to a recorded voice that says you’ve won a $100 Walmart gift card. You get transferred to some scam call center where they take your card number, literally lie to you about their systems being busy and then tell you you’ve won a Walmart gift card. When I said no, they hung up. I don’t know how much money was on mine, but I’m seriously upset that MasterCard would allow this to happen.

What a rip-off , DO NOT BUY THIS CARD EVER

I purchase a package of 5 cards that were $20 each from Sam's club on Christmas eve and passed them out on Christmas day to 5 different people. Everyone has called to tell me that the cards don't work. I contacted the company and they said I have to sent front and back of each card along with receipt and my photo ID. I did that , and they are now saying to send a picture of the package that the card came in. That was throw in the trash several days ago and we already have trash pick-up day. The customer service says this process with take up to 3 to 5 days. I think this is a scam and this company should be held responsibly and sued. For the mean time I look like an idiot for handing these cards with no money on them. So please do not buy these cards!!!!

Totally ripoff and scam

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I gave all my sensitive information . my social, my address and everything what they asked and yet they want my previous address and I gave that too. And now she said their data system couldn't process my information so I may not use the card the way I have should. and in order to get my money back they will charge me $10 processing fee. I called them thief and I'm going to report them to the police. so luckily the woman on the customer care was very sensitive and helpful eventually I was able to use my card with my insurance company but I will never ever use this company again. I mean, if US Government gives me driving license in two different states and this company doesn't accept the addresses or other information that means these are totally thieves and scam artist they just need someone like me to stand up and tell them I'm going to go to the police and report you or other government offices otherwise they just want to get away with this $10 or $10 fees imagine if they charge $10 for 10 people they can get easily $100 for nothing

Never ever buy this card. This is a scam.

The card is not being accepted online. So I called customer service to request for refund. They told me to email the picture of the card (front and back), receipt from walmart and signed letter. But to my dismay, the email add that they gave me is invalid. When I called again, I couldnt go through because it says my card is invalid. I have no way to contact them. They trick people. But it's ok, karma is on it's way.

Declined and gone

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

After opening this card I got for last Christmas, went to the store to finally spend it. One thing I noticed was that unused card had a paper at the back attached to the card with different bar code.

It was strange, but I went and tried to use it at the store anyway - and it was declined. I tried several more times with the same result. At the end, I went online to try and check the balance. I couldn't.

Tried to call their customer service phone number...it was message that they have problems and finally I tried calling customer services again - NUMBER DISCONNECTED!!! DO NOT BUY THIS CARD!!!!!
