I purchased close to $2500 in gift card to give as Christmas gifts (as I have done for the past 2 years without issue). This year, though they were activated by the store I purchased them at, they would not work.
Not only did I have to re-gather them but now Vanilla MasterCard (Incomm) will not activate the ones I kept so they can be used (though I have sent them all requested documentation). Nor have they refunded my money nor will anyone return an email nor phone call concerning them. If this is how these companies do business, they will no longer have my business. It was embarrassing enough to have your gift unusable.
But more of an insult when the retailer nor the issuer will resolve the issue.
